According to Mobile Africa, You Tube will bet set to go after the mobile phone market next year.

“Within the next year we hope to have something on a mobile device; it’s going to be a huge market, especially for the video mind-set we’re dealing with, it’s a natural transition,” said Hurley.

In May, YouTube launched its YouTube To Go service to enable users to upload clips directly from their mobile phones to view on the Web site on their personal computers.

This is a great concept because of the increase in the quality of cell phone video. You Tube seems to be pretty progressive in carving themselves into the digital video niche. It will be interesting to see how the can make money from this.

Users are now able to listen to podcasts through their telephones using nothing more than a telephone number. These services accomplish this by assigning a dedicated line to a certain podcast. The user then calls that number and listens to the podcast.

This has been made possible by the folks over at Podlinez and Fonpods. Fonpods is a little different though. With Fonpods you actually have to call the number and select from the content they have on their server. One number vs. multiple numbers.

I think this sounds like a great idea. It will be interesting to see how they will be able to monetize this as Techcrunch suggested.
